Why Going To Concerts Can Improve Your Mental Heath

The numbers are in, and they’re staggering. According to the Charlotte Observer, the Concert for Carolina benefit concert—a charitable show organized to raise funds for victims impacted by Hurricane Helene—raised a whopping $24,513,185 towards relief efforts. This incredible achievement showcases the power of community and the music industry coming together for a noble cause.

Held at Charlotte, N.C.'s Bank of America Stadium on Saturday night (Oct. 26), the sold-out show drew most of its revenue from the 82,193 fans who bought tickets. Luke Combs and Eric Church were the masterminds behind the event, headlining alongside other stars connected to Carolina, such as James Taylor and Billy Strings.

The lineup didn’t stop there. More musical heavyweights graced the stage, including Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Scotty McCreery, Chase Rice, Parmalee, and Bailey Zimmerman. This star-studded event was not just about the music; it was a night packed with surprises and heartfelt moments, including an appearance from Nicole Kidman and significant charitable announcements from Church and Dolly Parton.

How Funds Were Raised for Hurricane Victims

The sold-out stadium show generated significant revenue from ticket sales, which was earmarked directly toward storm relief efforts. Fans also had the option to purchase tickets to watch the livestream of the show via Veeps, further expanding the reach of the event.

Thanks to hedge fund manager David Tepper, who owns the Carolina Panthers, and his wife Nicole, the Bank of America Stadium was donated as the venue for the show. This generous act ensured that more funds could be allocated toward hurricane victims. The stadium team also covered costs for parking, worker wages, and taxes during the event, maximizing the amount raised for those in need.

  • Over $24 million raised for Hurricane Helene relief.
  • 82,193 fans attended the sold-out event.
  • Major contributions from celebrity performers.
  • Dolly Parton announced a $1 million donation during the event.

Where the Funds Will Go

The funds raised during the Concert for Carolina will be split between Combs and Church's Chief Cares Foundation. Combs plans to send his portion to several charitable organizations, including Samaritan's Purse, Manna Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, and Eblen Charities.

Additionally, Church announced his foundation is launching a home-building initiative called Blueprint for the Blue Ridge, with an initial goal to build 100 homes in hard-hit Avery County, N.C. These efforts represent a long-term commitment to helping communities recover and rebuild.
