Starstudded D.C. tribute concert celebrates Gershwin Prize winner Joni

Keith Urban paid tribute to a country legend and one of the great television shows of all time. Vince Gill also honored a fellow Eagle during an unforgettable night of music. Trisha Yearwood captivated the audience with a heartfelt rendition of a Linda Ronstadt song, capturing the emotion typically found at a memorial. This remarkable showcase was part of the 2023 version of All for the Hall, a renowned country music fundraiser aimed at supporting education programs at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.

On December 5, 2023, the event brought together some of the biggest names in country music. Artists like Brooks & Dunn, Kelsea Ballerini, and Old Dominion joined the lineup of 14 performers. A delightful surprise was the appearance of Brenda Lee, who came out of retirement to perform her classic "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," adding a festive touch to the evening.

The concert featured a variety of performances, including covers of popular songs by Alabama, Travis Tritt, and James Taylor. Each artist was encouraged to perform one of their own songs along with a cover that aligned with the theme "The Song Remembers When." Throughout the night, Urban and Gill provided harmonies and acted as a backing band, creating an intimate atmosphere for the audience.

  • The 2023 All for the Hall took place on Tuesday night (Dec. 5).
  • Brooks & Dunn, Kelsea Ballerini, and Old Dominion were three more of the 14 performers.
  • The surprise guest was Brenda Lee, who came out of retirement to sing "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."

Yearwood's cover of "You're No Good" was a standout moment, especially following Hardy's performance of Tritt's "It's a Great Day to Be Alive," which resonated deeply with his reflections on mental health. Earlier in the night, Urban entertained the crowd by recreating the iconic theme song from The Dukes of Hazzard, originally sung by Waylon Jennings, while Gill performed Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way."

This year's event was historic, raising over $900,000 for the Country Music Hall of Fame's programs, the highest amount in the event's history. Urban hosted the event for the eighth consecutive year, contributing to the over $5 million raised during the Nashville All for the Hall concerts throughout the years.
