Viral music sensation Lathan Warlick and country music hitmaker RaeLynn are in love, albeit not with each other. As most fans know, RaeLynn has been married to Josh Davis for nearly five years. And yes, Warlick, too, is happily married. When these two talented musicians came together to create a song last fall, they drew inspiration from their respective loves for their dynamic track titled “Roots.”

In an exclusive clip about the song premiering with Taste of Country, Warlick shared, “I just thought about my wife and everything she did and understanding where my wife came from. She is the definition of ‘Roots’ to me.” This sentiment encapsulates the essence of their collaboration—an exploration of love that goes beyond the surface.

Warlick and RaeLynn teamed up with fellow songwriters Blake Hubbard, Jarrod Ingram, Summer Overstreet, and Zach Dyer to craft “Roots.” The song features a heavy backbeat and an addictive groove, celebrating love not just for who someone is outwardly, but also for their inner values and beliefs.

“Roots” is about finding someone who understands their own background, emphasizing values and standing up for what one believes in. RaeLynn describes it as “a song for country girls.” The remarkable part of this collaboration is that the song was born on the very same day that RaeLynn and Warlick first met.

Reflecting on their first encounter in the studio, RaeLynn shared, “I was a little nervous because it’s not every day that you first meet someone and write an incredible song.” However, the connection they formed instantly translated into an incredible creative output—and indeed, it is incredible!
