Maren Morris is making waves in the country music scene as a talented, up-and-coming artist. Recently, she visited the Taste of Country Nights studio, where she opened up about her journey in the industry. Morris shared insights into filming her first music video and expressed her excitement for the upcoming tour alongside Keith Urban.
Her debut single, “My Church,” gained significant attention upon its release, and now the Texas native has also unveiled a video for the track. Returning to her roots, Morris filmed the video in her home state, a decision that holds personal significance for her.
“I actually filmed it in Austin. It was important to me … I think that song is so autobiographical to me and my journey, even though it’s a universal message ... you know everyone feels a connection to music,” Morris explained. She detailed how the many hours spent touring around Texas influenced the creative process behind her song and video.
The video’s director scouted a choir that appears in the video months prior to the shoot. “They were so fun, and we shot that four or five months ago. It feels far away now but I’m so glad it’s finally out. It was a lot of fun to make. It was my first video ever,” said Morris with enthusiasm.
As she prepares for her tour with Urban and Brett Eldredge, Morris is eager to share “My Church” and her other songs on larger stages. The highly anticipated tour kicks off on June 2 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show airing on over 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
