Lainey Wilson almost didn't look like Lainey Wilson in her first appearance at New York Fashion Week. The country singer took to social media to share a few snaps of her perfectly-curated Carolina Herrera ensemble. At first glance, it appeared Wilson had abandoned her signature bell-bottom style, but her long, flowy look was actually a wide-legged jumpsuit — which could arguably be a distant cousin in the bell-bottom family.
The vibrant outfit featured a loud blue and green print, complemented by heavy gold jewelry, a chunky black belt, and large black framed sunglasses. It’s a refreshing departure that still pays homage to her roots in fashion.
It is also rare to see Wilson without a hat. For this event, her hair was pulled back into a messy bun, creating a glamorous, yet casual look. In her social media post, Wilson explained, "I wore @carolinaherrera for last year’s #CMAawards red carpet, and on the morning of the nomination announcement for the 2024 CMA Awards, I’m heading to my first fashion show for #NYFW, with none other than Carolina Herrera of course," detailing her history with Herrera's looks.

Wilson was in attendance for Herrera's showing at this year's New York Fashion Week. She was photographed alongside a few other celebrities, like Liza Koshy and Chloe Fineman.
A Full-Circle Moment at the CMA Awards
Wilson noted the full-circle moment she experienced the morning of her New York Fashion Week appearance. While getting ready in her Herrera attire, she learned that she is a four-time nominee at this year's CMA Awards. Back in 2023, she sported a form-fitting black jumpsuit — also crafted by the designer — at the awards show. The legs of the outfit ruffled out into bell-bottoms, aligning perfectly with Wilson's signature look.
She took home five awards that night, solidifying her status in the country music scene. It sounds like Herrera might be a fashion good luck charm for the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, who is again vying for the EOTY prize in 2024, standing as the only female artist in the category.

Signature Looks in Country Music
While country artists are most known for their music and the lyrics they write, there are a few who you could pick out of a lineup based on their silhouette. In other words, there are several artists who are known for their sense of style just as much as they are known for their songs. Take for instance, Lainey Wilson's bell bottoms. Her vintage western look is not only becoming on her, but it's also by design.
Her one-of-a-kind style was born out of a need to stand out from the crowd and now it's become a part of who she is. For other artists, their signature look may be a ball cap or sunglasses. These items are so ingrained with an artist that it's almost uncomfortable to see them without them. But we went there anyway.
