Ashley McBryde Celebrates Grammy Win With A New Tattoo At The CMT Awards

After she won her first Grammy Award early in 2023, Ashley McBryde said she was planning to get a tattoo to commemorate the occasion. On Sunday night (April 2), at the 2023 CMT Music Awards, the singer made good on that promise: She walked into the ceremony with a golden gramophone freshly inked onto her left wrist. This moment not only marked a personal milestone for McBryde but also showcased her bold self-expression through body art.

McBryde described her new tattoo as "fresh" and mentioned that it was still healing, noting that she was about seven or eight days post-ink. Speaking to ET Online, she candidly confirmed that the experience of getting the tattoo was painful, “Oh, absolutely. Absolutely,” she stated, even humorously wishing they could have been "licked on by unicorns." However, her passion for tattoos is well-known, with her arms adorned in American Traditional-style ink and a large eagle tattoo gracing her chest.

At the CMTs, McBryde revealed that the gramophone tattoo was one of two new pieces she had. She hinted at another tattoo that serves as a tribute to future music she hasn't released yet. As she teased her fans, "Yeah, there’s new music coming, and—you know, I’ll let you draw any conclusions you want. ‘The Devil I Know’ comes out on April 7." This statement left many eager for her upcoming works and insights into her artistic journey.

During the awards show, alongside her celebratory spirit, McBryde wore a black pin to honor the victims of the tragic school shooting at Nashville's Covenant School on March 27, which claimed the lives of three nine-year-old students and three adult staff members. Reflecting on the duality of celebration and sorrow, she expressed, "With everything that was lost last week, it almost seems a little bit backward to be able to come together and celebrate music tonight." This poignant remark highlights the healing power of music, especially in tough times.
