1923 Season 2: Big Changes As Production Moves To Texas

As fans eagerly await the return of the popular series 1923, a significant change is on the horizon. The much-anticipated Season 2 of this Yellowstone prequel is set to begin filming, but not in its original Montana location. Reports indicate that production is relocating to Texas.

According to the Austin Business Journal, 1923 will be filmed at ATX Studios in Austin for its upcoming season. This move is seen as a beneficial development for both the growing film and television industry in Texas and the production itself. The state has offered enticing tax incentives, which played a crucial role in convincing the production team to shift from Montana, where the majority of Season 1 was filmed.

JP Gallagher, the Chief Executive of Butte-Silver Bow County, expressed his disappointment over this decision but also acknowledged the producers' reasoning. He stated, "We respect the production team's decision and understand that these choices are influenced by factors beyond our control." Gallagher noted that discussions were ongoing about bringing 1923 back to Butte, driven by the positive experiences the team had in Montana. However, the state's tax incentive programs ultimately swayed their decision towards Texas.

The talented cast of 1923 includes Harrison Ford, portraying Jacob Dutton, and Helen Mirren as Cara Dutton. They are the ancestors of John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner in Yellowstone. The series bridges the storyline between the previous prequel 1883 and the main series, showcasing the Dutton family's journey in building their land empire against various challenges.

While Paramount has confirmed the second season of 1923, further details regarding the plot and release date are yet to be announced. Fans remain hopeful that the new season will maintain the high standards set by its predecessor, even with the relocation to Texas.
