The beloved seriesWizards of Waverly Place concluded in 2012, leaving fans yearning for more adventures with the Russo family. David Henrie, who played Justin Russo, has expressed his enthusiasm for a potential reboot. He recently shared his vision for a new season exclusively with HollywoodLife, hinting at an exciting direction that resonates with the original's charm while exploring fresh narratives.

In a conversation about what made the show special, David emphasized the importance of family dynamics. “What made the show special was that we were a family, right? I think if we came back and did another season, just to give the fans a good experience, I think you’d want a big arc for the family,” he explained. This focus on familial relationships could lay the groundwork for a compelling storyline that fans will adore.

David's ideas for the reboot include starting from a place where the characters are “divided, doing their own thing in the wizard world.” This unique perspective could set the stage for a heartwarming reunion and growth, drawing viewers back into the magical universe they cherished.

David also shared his thoughts on where the characters might be in their lives now. He imagines Justin as the headmaster of WizTech, focused on his own family. Meanwhile, Alex, played by Selena Gomez, would be a fashionista, and Max would have turned his sub shop into a billion-dollar enterprise. This character development could add depth to the reboot, allowing fans to reconnect with their favorite characters in new and interesting ways.

As David envisions the start of the reboot, he notes that the Russos have “forgotten how to be a family.” This premise could lead to heartfelt moments as they learn to reconnect, echoing themes from both the original show and his new film, This Is The Year. This focus on family and connection remains central to the magic that fans loved about Wizards of Waverly Place.

Speaking of This Is The Year, it marks David's feature directorial debut. The movie boasts an impressive cast, including his real-life brother Lorenzo Henrie, Vanessa Marano, and Alyssa Jirrels, among others. Notably, Gregg Sulkin, who co-starred with David in the original series, also plays a role in the film. Furthermore, Selena Gomez, David's longtime friend and co-star, serves as an executive producer and is collaborating with him for the virtual premiere, scheduled for August 28.
